Crush

W HY DO WE HAVE CRUSHES?

I have a theory that crushes are an evolved response, that there is some evolutionary reason why we as a species experience crushes.

What is that role?

Is it a form of aggression, a prodding from our genes to mix with strangers?

Is it a developed innate system that says, "hey! pay attention! your next mate could be him!"

I think crushes are rather like slaps in the face from your subconscious lizard brain.
