Summer 2010

I was so excited for this summer. I was going to have casual dinners out on the patio. I was going to throw myself into gardening with a fervor not yet heretofore demonstrated. I was going to chill out at work. I was going to get buff at the gym. I was going to go hiking and camping...

Instead I ended up doing, well, not a whole lot. I did stuff around the house. I had friends over a couple of times. Dennis came to town and fixed my swamp cooler, bless him. John played on the patio while I re-painted the carport, Pitch an agreeable companion. I don't think I went hiking one single time.

Finally, just before summer ended, John and I went to Olympia to visit his nephew Joel Brazzel. We also went to Whidbey Island to visit old friends of mine.

In November, I hiked a trail near Fourth of July campground with my friends Putnay and Molly and John. We were too late for the spectacular colors but the subdued colors were appealing nonetheless.

John would have looked more apprehensive if he knew what we were in for!
Joel showed us around Olympia for a couple days, then put us on the bus for a marathon 7-hour, 7-segment ride up to Langley on Whidbey island
